Our Story

Three years ago, Caleb and his wife Bailey visited Sweden, a place where he has family roots. They stayed in a cabin with a sauna, overlooking the Baltic Sea. It was there that they experienced a deep connection and love for sauna culture.

While in Europe, they also travelled around Norway and Denmark, meeting locals and taking saunas. Whether it was traditional wood burning saunas, floating saunas, sauna villages, or urban saunas — they all had their own creative design, to fit within their respective spaces and layouts. And all of them brought people together in a rad way.

Still stoked on their post-sauna high and with a newfound appreciation for cold and heat exposure, Caleb and Bailey headed back to the States with a vision of making the Scandinavian sauna experience more accessible to Midwesterners.

Bailey’s dad, Steve, is a jack-of-all-trades handyman who has built a number of different saunas over the years. His knowledge and love for the craft made him the perfect collaborator. Together, they founded Valhalla Saunas.

Saunas have been a part of our heritage in Minnesota and Wisconsin for generations, but our goal is to make them more affordable and attainable for all people and types of spaces.
